listening to live at the witch trials by the fall

We're still one step ahead of you
I still believe in the R and R dream
R and R as primal scream

Tied to the Puritan Ethic
Nonsympathetic to spastics
After all this, still a lonely bastard.

Eggheads, boneheads, queue
Queue for them
We were early and we were late
But, still, live at the witch trials....

i had two glasses of wine at lunch and i got nothing to say that mark e smith can't say for me.

listening to les ryprouves (action time mix) by kid loco

you really *must* visit kid loco's site, but be warned - turn your pop-up blocker off to get the news tab or sign up for updates... but turn it back ON to read the rest of the site - it is a really beautiful, well done page (in my opinion). i love kid, he's such a straaaange guy. anyway, it's official:

we are moving to brighton!

friday night i dreamed i was in a bustling urban cafe, much like 1369 in cambridge, massachusetts. i could even smell the fresh coffee and muffins! here is a rough guide to "the squares" of cambridge. anyhoo, in this dream i was once again surrounded by artists, performers, writers, freaks, musicians, and other assorted locals (of both the scruffy and non-scruffy variety). there was a corkboard choc-a-bloc with pinned-up announcements of area happenings; roommate wanted, cat found, bassist needed, yoga clinic, film festivals, theatre groups, etc.... that sense of community is sorely missing where we are now (and prolly horsham as well, altho it is a pretty little town). i know we will be very happy there, and we're both getting caught up in the spirit of relocating there when our current lease expires. the last few weeks where we are will be interesting indeed, as we have to put the HUGE pine bed back together in the 2nd bedroom (it takes up the whole room, right now it's in pieces scattered around the house) and find homes for both our computer setups elsewhere in the place as prospective new tenants look around. not looking forward to that but hey, it's just one of the things ya gotta do.

i already have an interview lined up down there for work this friday - the ball is in play! hmmm, how many times have i said THAT in my life?

simon, i'm sending you guys a couple new chapters so you can tell me if they suck or not.

listening to dust settling around me

well we're all fucked up about having no money and no prospects but that didn't stop me from going to brighton to clear my head... i saw a ferret on a leash and petted a calico kitten on tidy street. and the spam just keeps on coming - here are two weird ones (highlighted):

i don't think spleenwort and discriminable are even words. duh.

listening to mozart sonata for violin & piano, k.304

urgh. blagh. grrrrrrrp. excuse me while i make hideous gutteral noises which directly reflect my feelings about:
- having no money
- looking for a job
- being bored and grumpy and having a headache
not the most interesting post i've ever made but it's all i can muster up today. usually when i feel this frustrated i go ride my bike like a lunatic in the evenings to let off the stress. well, due to global warming and the ignoramusses who contribute to it i can't do that tonight cos we are experiencing severe, spastic thunderstorms. bollocks!

(oh, added the "mini trips" section to the rh navigation. fluffy nothings from the center of the void.)

let's explore my fascistic side:

1) should UK police destroy the cars of uninsured drivers? YES.
these cheap, careless jerks won't learn otherwise. "why should my teenage son spend £4000 a year to insure a £500 car?" because it is not just about damage to vehicles dumbass, your jerk son will probably hurt someone and they have a right to claim compensation. i still say driving is a privilege, not a right, and everyone should pay for this privilege. uninsured drivers stink. pay up or ride the bus sucker.

2) should lynndie england be made an example of? YES.
"i was just following orders" does not cut it. mmmm, sounds familiar... were you just following orders when you openly mocked human beings protected by the geneva convention? not only that, she was stupid enough to have her picture taken in the act. were you just following orders when you shagged and got knocked up by a *married* soldier from your unit (he's a real prize too)? she turns up 'heavily pregnant' for court and we are supposed to feel sorry for her. great. here is a person who has absolutely no moral conscience at all. nice way to be an embassador for your country, which is basically what you are when you travel, regardless of the circumstances. and the spelling of her name is just stupid. next.

(disclaimer: the above transcends the grotesque situation it is a by-product of. i can't even begin to express my horror over the us occupation in iraq so i won't.)

see, i'm not all about hugging trees and saving the spotted owl. i'm supposed to be looking for a job, and working on my book, but instead i'm raging like ed anger... time to switch gears. oooh, pumpkin seeds!

if you really need a laugh, spend some time on that weekly world news site, the graphics are especially uproarious.

anyone who knows me knows i am just having fun... or am i?

i added a new flash thing today, it's called rottingdean in 2.5 minutes... so if you are at all curious about what rottingdean is like, hopefully this mini-travelogue will quench thee. it has not really been timed, so if anyone actually does the re-naming credit is yours. soundtrack is "what you think about" by st. germain. beachy!

listening to... my inner turmoil

changed the background but i still don't like it. the old one is here if you really want to see it - poorly executed AND depressing (i was in a hurry & angry at a woman i work with)!

we rode for about 7 hours today and i figured out something very important about myself. of course it won't be discussed here but i'm glad i got this thing worked out, it's something that's always bothered me a bit about myself, and now that i figured it out i can let it go. long bike rides will do that!

some pics and stuff tomorrow, i am just too knackered tonight.

we had a lovely day off from work today - well, lovely except for the hellish ride back on a too short, too hot train that was running awfully late... anyway, we took a train to dorking and then a bus to holmbury st mary. our plan was to take a walking trail to leith hill, and visit leith hill tower, but we got insanely lost in holmbury st mary (after probably the best guinness pour i ever tasted, hehe, at the royal oak tavern there) so instead we just hiked up a cliff into a fern forest, and looked at some incredible little cottages with amazing gardens. then we sat in the shade of an ancient little cemetary and waited for the bus back to dorking. there's a great restaurant in dorking called pizza piazza, which is actually an old inn, and had lunch in a secert back garden that was full of butterflies, sparrows and one little blackbird who had no tail (!) but was a real character to watch. they have a drink & (a delicious, fresh) individual pizza lunch for £3.95 which can't be beat. we've gotten into a nice weekly routine of going on a sojourn to either a rural location / little village, or into london to seek some cultchah. the tate with suey last weekend was great, the art & the 60's retrospective 'this is tomorrow' is great, and i am actually suprised at how influential & interesting yoko ono was before that whole hypnotising john lennon thing... kidding! kidding! now i'm reading the barry mile's book on the 60s london art scene and it's a real eye-opener. good stuff.

i've also turned into a news junkie... i'm picking up a couple different papers every day (the times, guardian & independent usually) along with watching BBC news regularly and listening to alot of radio 4... these complicated times have compelled me to become as knowledgeable as possible & to me that means gleaning current events from as many different (and hopefully reliable) sources as possible. understanding the whos, whats and whys makes everything a little easier to digest and deal with. my head feels clear and full and i like it. i'm self-aware but in a good way for a change.

on the way home we heard a siren that sounded like the slide whistle in dee-lite's 'groove is in the heart'. it probably signalled someone's unfortunate demise, but it bought back some nice memories for me. i totally suck. so now derry has the CD out and we're looking at it. a weird, good day. lots of laughter.

spaghetti with broccoli & garlic and olive oil sounds perfect for supper.

i *am* gonna do something about this creepy page design, and add links to some of the strange little one-off special features that have been posted here & there in the daily posts. woolly lost his voice! baaaaaaaaahhh!

i know, this design is absolutely awful! it's just the mood i'm in today. nothing much else to say really. some of the people around here are very irritating. updating from work is dangerous!
