Single info:
Blur's debut single was written in 1988 under their previous identity Seymour. It caused controversy with its picture sleeve of a naked woman on a hippopotamus, winning them their first news headlines. Denied a Top 40 place, so legend has it, because Alex's mother bought 20 copies in a Bournemouth record shop, making chart compilers Gallup suspicious enough to knock it down ten places.
